Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2011

Of the estimated 29.6 million small businesses operating in the United States, many are in jeopardy of failing. The leading cause of failure, according to a recent SiteKreator study of 100,000 small business websites, is lack of online activity.

"We see it over and over again, small businesses who are either disengaged online or not online at all, do not grow at the same rates as those who have invested in an online presence," says Ivaylo Lenkov, founder and CEO of SiteKreator.

"It's unfortunate and absolutely unnecessary." Lenkov along with his team of designers and engineers built SiteKreator, a complete website solution created to empower small businesses online.

The “Small Business Website Usage Study” is based on SiteKeator's analysis of aggregate usage trends of 100,000 active accounts in 2010 broken down into the following small business sectors: consulting, services, arts, nonprofits, technology, automotive, and retail.

Key findings include:

  • 54% of small businesses update their websites less than once a month
  • As few as five updates a month will increase website traffic by up to 300%
  • Integrating Facebook in the website results in 400% more traffic than using paid search
  • Adding Twitter, in addition to Facebook, contributes merely an additional 6%

Websites can improve user engagement and rank higher in the search engine results by keeping their content fresh. Update tactics such as posting industry news, maintaining an active blog and responding to comments, creating image galleries, integrating with Facebook and running surveys all contribute to improved website performance.

"With the design, programming, search engine optimization, and hosting aspects all taken care of we're able to focus on what's important to our clients: delivering quality care,” said Nick Levi, DDS, Owner, California Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. “Over the past three years, we've seen our practice increase 20% annually, attributing a good part of this growth to our highly functional SiteKreator powered website."

Since 2006, the SiteKreator platform has been the best source for customizable high-end design solutions and the most cost effective way to build and maintain a website. SiteKreator empowers small business by taking the pain out of doing online business. It is a one-stop easy-to-use suite for designing, maintaining, and hosting a professional, visually impressive customer-ready website.
