CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

GrubHub, an industry leader in the online restaurant delivery space, has been named to Inc. Magazine’s prestigious 500 list, which ranks the nation’s fastest-growing privately held companies. The Chicago-based company came in at No. 229 among 500 companies. The coveted list will be published in the magazine’s September issue.

Founded in 2004, GrubHub reported revenues of $4.03 million in 2009 – an impressive 1,577% growth over the last three-years – and has tripled its employee size over the last year to 65 employees.

“I’m honored to be included in a list once occupied by such powerhouses as Visa, Zappos and Microsoft,” said Matt Maloney, GrubHub co-founder and CEO. “It has been an amazing experience to be a part of such tremendous growth over the last three years.”

GrubHub shows consumers all the local restaurants that deliver to them and allows them to order directly online, by phone or through its iPhone app. Online users can browse and compare menus options and prices, see which restaurants are open, read reviews, and take advantage of coupons. The site currently services Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Boulder, Washington D.C. and Oakland and has a network of over 13,000 restaurants on its site.

Restaurants working with GrubHub get an average of 20 percent more delivery orders through the site. Despite the recession, the company is experiencing rapid growth in all of its markets and is on track to bring $70 million in food sales to its restaurants this year.

“We’re going to double our orders this year,” Maloney said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we are driving more business to our restaurants in the midst of a real economic recession. It’s been a success story for everyone involved.”

The rapidly growing company works with over 4,000 restaurants for online ordering and shows menus from over 13,000 restaurants in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Boulder, Washington D.C. and Oakland.
