AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Ortho Kinematics, a privately held spine diagnostics company focused on revolutionizing spine motion analysis, announced today that it has begun a multi-site clinical study of the KineGraph VMA™, and that the initial 23 patients have been enrolled. The study will help determine which types of patients are best evaluated with KineGraph VMA testing. The KineGraph VMA is designed to provide functional diagnostic information to spine surgeons to be used in conjunction with MRI and plain X-rays.

“The KineGraph VMA study is designed to provide a large set of spine biomechanics data across a wide variety of surgical patients. We hope to use the insights gained from this study to further understand back pain,” said Antonio Castellvi, M.D., an orthopaedic spine surgeon at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute who is an investigator in the study. In addition to Dr. Castellvi, several other leading US spine surgeons and institutions will be participating in the study.

The Kinegraph VMA is an investigational technology that provides clinicians with biomechanical data to help them assess spine function. Pilot studies have demonstrated the technology’s potential to identify adjacent level disease risk, inter-vertebral stiffness, laxity, paradoxical motion and other related parameters of a patient’s spinal column motion.

“Our previous clinical studies demonstrated proof of concept and validated the potential of our technology. We are now embarking on a trial to demonstrate the potential of our test to provide additional information for surgical decisions,” added Adam Deitz, CEO of Ortho Kinematics.
