SEATTLE, Aug. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In the fifth unlimited hydroplane race of the season, Miss HomeStreet and championship driver Jimmy Shane won the Gold Cup today in Detroit. The win follows yesterday's 3rd place in the President's Cup and their first-place finish at the Seafair Cup in Seattle earlier this month. "Winning the oldest active trophy in motorsports in the Motor City is an incredible feeling," said Miss HomeStreet driver Jimmy Shane. "We want to thank Detroit for cheering us on throughout the entire weekend, and we're looking forward to seeing the world's greatest competitors in San Diego for our next and final race."

The Gold Cup is considered by many to be the premier race in U.S. H1 Unlimited Hydroplane racing. During the race, Miss HomeStreet and the rest of the hydroplanes thrilled spectators with high speeds and top-notch competition on the 2.5-mile Detroit River course. The next race will be at Bayfair in San Diego on September 15.

"Congratulations to Jimmy and the entire Miss HomeStreet team for capturing one of the most important trophies the sport has to offer," said HomeStreet Bank CEO and President Mark K. Mason. "This has been an incredible season, and we're looking forward to the next and final race in San Diego."
