Biotech Enzymes Increase Biogas Production, Offering New Revenue Stream from Waste Materials and Increased Renewable Energy

HANNOVER, Germany (PRWEB) November 16, 2016

DuPont Industrial Biosciences and MIAVIT GmbH today announced a supply agreement where DuPont will supply enzymes for incorporation in biogas-boosting products distributed by MIAVIT. Enzyme technology has been proven to improve biogas yields and process robustness, ultimately increasing customers' revenue and profitability while increasing offerings in renewable energy.

DuPont Industrial Biosciences will provide its FIBREZYME® G4 enzyme biotechnology to MIAVIT for inclusion in MiaMethan® ProCut, a new biogas ingredient for the agricultural sector sold by MIAVIT. MiaMethan® ProCut helps improve the breakdown of poorly digestible materials to allow for more efficient conversion to biogas. DuPont has more than three decades of experience supplying enzymes into new markets. In July, the company announced its entry into the growing biogas sector with the launch of OPTIMASH® AD-100, an innovative new liquid enzyme product that has been shown to produce up to a 13 percent increase in biogas yields in anaerobic digesters. FIBREZYME® G4, the company's latest enzyme offering, available in powder format helps reduce the viscosity of poorly digestible materials by over 60 percent, thereby allowing faster processing time.

Enzymes work by accelerating the breakdown of various materials such as plant fibers, paper, animal and farm wastes, as well as protein-rich materials, such as food waste and manure, resulting in sugars and amino acids more suitable for conversion into biogas. Methane biogas is primarily used to generate renewable electricity, or is compressed and inserted into the pipeline gas grid.

"We are constantly innovating to offer our customers the latest technology to improve profitability and opportunity in the marketplace," said Franz Otten, managing director of Sales at MIAVIT. "As new technology, like FIBREZYME® from DuPont, comes online, we see tremendous opportunity for our customers to improve efficiency and yields. This, in turn, provides the emerging biogas industry a new revenue stream, particularly for rural and farm communities, from materials that would ordinarily go to waste – reducing damaging environmental impacts and expanding renewable options for power generation."

"DuPont is focused on continuous innovation for our customers," said Conrad Burke, global marketing director at DuPont Industrial Biosciences. "Customers can expect this technology to increase biogas production, improve biogas quality, shorten process time and reduce the amount of feedstock required – all backed by our decades of experience in the global industrial enzyme and renewable energy businesses."

DuPont Industrial Biosciences and MIAVIT announced the new partnership at EuroTier/Energy-Decentral, from 15-18 November in Hannover, Germany. MIAVIT will be displaying biogas products at their booth located in Hall 25, stand H12. DuPont Industrial Biosciences' Animal Nutrition team will have an exhibit at Hall 22, stand B36.

DuPont Industrial Biosciences recently partnered with the American Biogas Council and the United States Department of Energy to host Using Biotechnology to Drive Progress in the Biogas Industry, a webinar discussing opportunities and challenges facing biogas producers in today's global market.

For more than 10 years, MIAVIT has been providing its customers with know-how and service. Recent studies show that MiaMethan® ProCut, which is compared to other products, has extremely high cellulase activity. In addition to the MiaMethan® ProCut highlight, MIAVIT will present its complete biogas program at EuroTier. Individual trace element mixtures in liquid and solid form, but also combinations such as the product MiaMethan® Kombi E are the focus.
