EPA Recognizes J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. with 2016 Environmental Excellence Award

LOWELL, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. JBHT, one of the largest transportation companies in North America, announced today it has again received the SmartWay® Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). For the seventh consecutive year, J.B. Hunt has received this distinction for a continued effort on environmental excellence by being an industry leader in freight supply chain performance and energy efficiency.

This award is representative of the top one-to-two percent of environmentally responsible SmartWay Carriers that operate with a commitment to reducing carbon emissions. In 2015, Intermodal usage by customers reduced GHG emissions by more than 2.68 million metric tons compared to traditional over-the-road transportation. This reduction is equivalent to removing over 560,000 passenger vehicles from U.S. highways. Additionally, a recent initiative aims to help identify underperforming tractors regarding MPG and service them.
