NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Audible Studios, a production arm of Audible.com, today announced the release of Nick Offerman's audio interpretation of Mark Twain's emblematic depiction of childhood, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This new recording is now available for download at audible.com/tomsawyer.

"Being paid to perform such a gratifying activity as reading Mark Twain aloud felt powerfully akin to Tom Sawyer hoodwinking other boys into paying him for the privilege of whitewashing a fence," said Offerman, whose television and film credits include Parks and Recreation, Fargo and The Lego Movie. "Let's keep that between us."

"Offerman's distinctive voice and masterful comedic timing make him the perfect person to invigorate one of the most iconic tomes in American literature," said Audible EVP and Publisher Beth Anderson. "A natural storyteller and delightful performer, he succeeds at capturing the brave and youthful spirit of the novel, mischievous shenanigans and all, for today's listeners."

With a 30-day membership trial at Audible, new listeners can enjoy any one audiobook, including this performance of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, free.

In addition to Offerman, among the acclaimed performers who have narrated works of literature for Audible are Maggie Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins, Emma Thompson, James Franco, and Jesse Eisenberg. In 2013, Audible Studios won its first Grammy Award, for its production of Janis Ian's memoir Society's Child, and also won the Audie Award for Audiobook of the Year, for Colin Firth's performance of Graham Greene's The End of the Affair.

Audible, the world's largest seller and producer of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word content, invented and commercialized the first digital audio player in 1997, and has since been at the forefront of the explosively growing audiobook download segment. Audible members downloaded an average of more than 17 books over the course of the year. Two thirds of new Audible members are first-time audiobook buyers.
