VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

American Water Works Co., Inc. AWK, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, today announced that Keystone Clearwater Solutions (Keystone) President and Chief Executive Officer Ned Wehler will retire effective Dec. 1, 2016. Wehler will be replaced by Keystone's current president and chief operating officer, Daniel Dalton.

"When American Water decided to acquire Keystone in 2015, among the reasons were Ned and Dan," said Susan Story, American Water's president and chief executive officer. "Their shared commitment to safety, protecting the environment and superior customer service reflect American Water's values and matter deeply as we grow our business. While we will miss Ned, we know Dan will continue to lead Keystone to serve the immediate and long-term needs of its customers with professional-quality service and dedication to excellence."

Wehler will work with Dalton in the coming months to ensure a seamless transition.

As the president and chief operating officer of Keystone, Dalton manages all aspects of the company's operations. Currently, he provides direct oversight and management of all water transfer, pipeline engineering, construction management, transportation and other water-transfer projects and operations for Keystone throughout the Appalachian Basin.

Dalton has also developed extensive experience in hydrogeology, environmental permitting and various other geotechnical applications through the completion of many high-profile water infrastructure assignments while employed as a geotechnical consultant.

Dalton works out of Keystone's headquarters located in Hershey, Pa. He graduated from West Chester University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in geology.
