A.M. Best Assigns Indicative Ratings to The Hartford Financial Service Group, Inc.'s New Shelf Registration

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

A.M. Best has assigned indicative issue ratings of "a-" to senior unsecured debt, "bbb+" to senior subordinated debt, "bbb" to junior subordinated debt and "bbb" to preferred stock of the recently filed shelf registration of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (The Hartford) (headquartered in Hartford, CT) HIG. The outlook assigned to each rating is stable.

The assigned ratings, for securities that may be issued under the shelf registration statement, are consistent with the current ratings of The Hartford's outstanding securities. The new shelf registration replaces The Hartford's previous shelf registration, which expires Aug. 9, 2016. Consequently, the indicative ratings for the previous shelf registration have been withdrawn.
