IBM Closes EZSource Acquisition

International Business Machines Corp. IBM revealed Monday that it completed EZ Legacy Ltd. (EZSource) acquisition. However, the financial details of the acquisition were not revealed. The acquired firm is an app discovery and understanding company helping developers understand, as well as, visualizes software to more easily modify mainframe applications.

IBM believes that with EZSource, it would be able to allow its clients to unlock billions of lines of app code residing on z Systems to help speed up their adoption of hybrid cloud. The integration could help developers identify and change parts of apps that are candidates to connect into the hybrid cloud through application programming interfaces (APIs). IBM's strength in digital transformation, API Economy, hybrid cloud and enterprise DevOps is complimented by EZSource's capabilities to understand and analyze applications.

The tech firm's GM for z Systems, Ross Mauri, said, "The IBM mainframe is a foundational technology for digital transformation. Today's developers can drown in the sea of complex application code. EZSource's application discovery technology makes it fast and easy for developers to understand and extend those applications at the speed of business."

Similarly, EZSource CEO, Eran Tirer, said, "As we integrate with IBM, the ability to extend our technology expertise to the z Systems portfolio while taking advantage of its global presence will help us reach more clients as they work to modernize their computing infrastructure."

IBM traded 2.16 percent down on Monday.
