HUMBOLDT, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The city of Humboldt, Iowa, launched two new services providing residents with a quick, online alternative to a paper-intensive task. The registration service enables online registrations and payment for youth sports leagues, and the mobile payment service processes paper registration payments over-the-counter on a mobile device.

The registration service, recently open for softball and baseball leagues saw a significant increase in new registrations, doubling the amount of registrations from the previous year. The service allows users to submit participant information and make secure, real-time payments with a credit card, debit card, or eCheck. Once payment is complete, users are sent to a receipt page, and the Parks and Recreation Department receives notification. The system's robust administrative module gives staff access to set costs and late registration dates, send notifications, print lists or name badges, and duplicate or edit previously created events for use during subsequent seasons.

The department will open the registration service to flag football and volleyball in the fall. It will continue to accept paper registrations authorizing payments using OntheGo, a new mobile payment processing service, providing residents with a quick, secure option for processing a paper registration with a credit or debit card. After a successful transaction, a receipt is emailed, and the administrative module provides real-time reports for reconciliation.

"This time of year has always been busy for our staff," said Susan Rutz, Humboldt Recreation Director. "I save hours each day with this process automated online, and our citizens are excited about the convenience of this service."

The registration and mobile payment services are a result of a continued partnership between the city of Humboldt and Iowa Interactive, LLC of Des Moines. In March, the city began accepting online payments with PayPort, Iowa Interactive's payment processing system.

"As Iowa's state eGovernment partner, we're pleased to extend our services to local government," said Jason Johns, Iowa Interactive President, General Manager. "Our mission is to streamline Iowa citizens' and business's access to government information and services."
