Global leader in vehicle information displays to share insights on driver eye gaze tracking, laser projection and other topics during Display Week from May 24-27

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., May 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Visteon Corporation VC, the global leader in vehicle information displays, will share insights on topics ranging from driver monitoring to laser projection at the 2016 Display Week International Symposium in San Francisco, May 24-27.

Visteon engineers from Germany and the U.S. will present four papers during the Society for Information Display's (SID) annual Display Week at the Moscone Convention Center – considered a premier international event for the electronic display industry.

"Display technology is evolving rapidly with new materials, free-form shapes and multiple ways for drivers to interface with the information available in their vehicles," said Visteon's James Farell, director, mechanical, displays and optical product development. "Displays that provide information drivers need while being intuitively easy to use can help mitigate driver distraction and improve the overall user experience. Visteon is pleased to contribute to the dialogue on various aspects of future display technology – including new materials and standards – at this highly regarded symposium."

Visteon will present technical papers on the following topics during Display Week:

  • A pragmatic approach to quantifying "speckles" that can degrade images in laser projection systems. (Session 10.3, 2-3:20 p.m. May 24, Room 130.) Visteon presenter: Yanning Zhao, Kerpen, Germany.
  • Methods to minimize luminance consumption and associated image burn-in on OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays for automotive applications. (Session 36.1, 3:30-4:50 p.m., May 25, Room 104.) Visteon presenter: Paul Weindorf, Van Buren Township, Michigan, U.S.
  • A proposed automatic display luminance control system that uses an eye gaze tracking camera to measure the driver's pupil size and provide forward field-of-view intensity. (Session 43.1, 9-10:20 a.m., May 26, Room 104). Visteon presenter: Paul Weindorf, Van Buren Township, Michigan, U.S.
  • Recent standardization efforts and measurement procedures of Germany vehicle manufacturers and the German Flat Panel Forum (DFF). (Session 29.1, 10:40 a.m.-noon, May 25.) Visteon's Hans Ulrich-Lauer, Karlsruhe, Germany, is a co-author.
