WILMINGTON, Del., May 10, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The question of what connectivity will underpin the IoT is still up for debate. Will it be emerging global standards or proprietary solutions? This debate is the focus of an upcoming live webinar from InterDigital, Inc. IDCC, a mobile technology research and development company, and hosted by the IEEE Communications Society on Thursday, May 19th at 11:00 am EDT.

"Rumble in the IoT Jungle: Emerging Standards Take on Proprietary Solutions" brings together three IoT experts to debate global standards versus proprietary solutions in IoT. Matt Hatton, CEO, Machina Research, will moderate the dynamic debate between Allen Proithis, President, North America, Sigfox, representing the proprietary IoT technology viewpoint, and Ken Figueredo, Founder, More-with-Mobile, and expert in IoT standards, representing the standards-based IoT platform viewpoint.

"We're beginning to see the push for adoption of standards-based solutions, such as the global oneM2M™ standard, in the industry," said James Nolan, Executive Vice President, IoT Solutions at InterDigital. "However, proprietary IoT technologies with connectivity solutions available now have started to drive into the market. This webinar will provide expert insight into what connectivity may eventually emerge as the victor in the IoT."

The live debate is the fourth webinar in InterDigital's Creating the Living Network™ series presented by the IEEE Communications Society. The six-webinar series focuses on experiencing the Living Network through emerging 5G technologies and standards, IoT interoperability and applications, and IoT and 5G use cases.
