Presenting The Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt(tm) at Annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo October 5 and 6

WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) April 28, 2016

Hanley Wood, in partnership with KB Home KBH, BUILDER magazine and KTGY Architecture + Planning announce a first of its kind demonstration home -- The Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt -- to be available for in-person discovery tours October 5 and 6 at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo at The Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt is an unprecedented time-travel look ahead to the years 2020 and 2050 as a way to bring new perspective and strategic scenario-planning opportunities to builders, as well as to showcase some leading ideas that can be implemented today. The display at the 2016 Greenbuild Conference and Expo will boast vignettes that feature assemblies and systems, home tours, interactive educational features, and a digital wall display. Title sponsors of The Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt are Whirlpool Corporation and Owens Corning.

"The Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt is a next-generation platform of discovery for today, tomorrow and the future," said Jeff Mezger, President and Chief Executive Officer at KB Home. "What underlies our approach is the combination of practicality, innovation and collaboration with our partners. Creating a running portfolio of innovative ideas and experiments serves as the research-driven model we use for identifying, testing, refining, and implementing new-technologies supporting sustainability. For 2016 and beyond we have to meet where the sustainable home market is headed with a combination of efficiency, affordability, and excellence."

"We approached this project from a broad perspective," said Nick Franklin, Executive Vice President, Strategic Operations at KB Home. "For a project like this to make a lasting imprint on the way we think about providing sustainable homes, we reached beyond current thinking. Then we assembled a process that would not only provide improved solutions for today, but offers innovations that will shape the future."

The ProjeKt explores futuristic thinking - generations of transformation and trending around automation, materials science and social road-mapping. The Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt will change the game, its aim to broaden the conversation about making high-performance, sustainable, resiliently-built and efficiently operating homes attainable to those who are pursuing the American Dream of homeownership.

"This concept will alter the landscape of green solutions," said John McManus, editorial director of BUILDER. "All of the focused thinking that is shaping this project will lend itself to how policy makers, architects, manufacturers, builders and the industry at large will behave from now and into the future."

"A critical aspect of the design and production of this home is creating a model that is sustainable and affordable," said Manny Gonzalez, principal at KTGY. "Green living is often associated with higher costs of entry. We are working with manufacturers and KB Home to change the dynamic. We want to develop homes that can be produced at volume, available to as many home buyers as possible and can be profitable to the builder as well. And, with that being said, we are never taking our eyes off other mandatory home assets like comfort, safety and even customization."

Collaborators on The Greenbuild KBHome ProjeKt are interior designers SmithGroupJJR, Joseph Wheeler, AIA, professor at Virginia Tech University and leaders from Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
