$100,000 DONATED TO K9S FOR WARRIORS BY EARLY TIMES KENTUCKY WHISKY

Early Times Kentucky Whisky donated $100,000 to K9s For Warriors during the announcement of its partnership at a ceremony in Ponte Vedra, FL, on Thursday, March 24. K9s For Warriors is a non-profit organization committed to training service canines for military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, and/or other trauma resulting from military service.

The donation from Early Times will enable K9s For Warriors to train five warrior-service dog teams.

The ceremony included opening remarks from K9s For Warriors Founder and President Shari Duval and Executive Director Rory Diamond, as well as the presentation of graduation certificates to five veterans and their new service canines. In addition, ceremony guests were introduced to former K9s graduate Joe Swoboda, accompanied by his service dog Lilly. Swoboda spoke about his experience at K9s For Warriors and what the donation means to him and fellow veterans.

"Early Times' donation of $100,000 isn't just about money," said Swoboda. "It's not just about the cost associated with training service dogs. This is about saving the lives of our brothers in arms. This check is lives."

The partnership between Early Times and K9s For Warriors stems from a long history of military support from Brown-Forman, the parent company of Early Times. In conjunction with Brown-Forman's veterans employee resource group (BRAVE) mission, Early Times will further the support in empowering military veterans to continue living life with independence and dignity following military service.

"Early Times has a genuine and heartfelt connection with our United States military as well as with proud, hardworking and patriotic Americans," said Early Times Brand Manager Marc Hindorff. "It is our honor to partner with K9s For Warriors and continue supporting those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our country in their service."

Robin Nicholson, a representative from BRAVE, was also in attendance and spoke on behalf of Early Times and Brown-Forman. Her presentation of the $100,000 donation to K9s For Warriors on behalf of Early Times and Brown-Forman left ceremony guests, volunteers, and K9s veterans speechless, given her emotional remarks.

In efforts to continue to raise awareness, Early Times will produce a documentary film about the relationship between warriors and their service dogs, as well as invite consumers to get involved with various programs on Early Times' Facebook page and at http://earlytimes.com/.

About K9s For Warriors:

K9s For Warriors was founded in 2011 by Shari Duval. After her son Brett returned home as a contractor from Iraq with Post-Traumatic Stress Disability, Duval recognized there was a need to innovatively and effectively treat the devastating epidemic. What started out as an idea developed into a passionate nonprofit organization committed to saving the lives of rescue dogs and military heroes alike. Since 9/11, there have been 130,000 veteran suicides (22 lives lost a day to PTSD). Through a three-week, live-in training program – at no cost to the veteran – K9s For Warriors graduates are able to return to civilian life with dignity and independence while reducing their risk for suicide. The mission of K9s For Warriors is to stop these 22 daily suicides altogether.
