Boise Cascade Company Announces Thomas Corrick Elected to its Board and Promotion of Officers

BOISE, Idaho - Boise Cascade Company (Boise Cascade) BCC announced that Thomas K. Corrick was elected to its Board of Directors (Board) on February 24, 2016.  Boise Cascade also announced four officer appointments effective February 24:  Richard Viola as a senior vice president of sales and marketing for Building Materials Distribution; Mike Brown as vice president of operations for Wood Products; Mary Jo Nyblad as vice president of commodity sales and marketing for Wood Products; and Nate Jorgenson as vice president of Engineered Wood Products.

Mr. Corrick serves as the chief executive officer of Boise Cascade and over the past 32 years has served as the company's chief operating officer, senior vice president of both Wood Products manufacturing and engineered wood products and has held various management and financial positions with the company.  "Tom has extensive experience in growing our engineered wood products business and has worked closely with the Board long before becoming the chief executive officer.  He knows our customers, our employees and our industry and will bring a strong strategic planning and operations perspective to the Board as we continue to grow Boise Cascade," commented Boise Cascade chairman, Tom Carlile.  Mr. Corrick was elected to fill a newly created director position and, as a management director, will not serve on any board committees. 

Mr. Viola joined Boise Cascade via an acquisition in 1999 and most recently served as the vice president of sales and marketing for Building Materials Distribution (October 2013 to February 2016).  Since 1999, Mr. Viola has served in various management positions with Boise Cascade's Building Materials Distribution including as the eastern region manager and the national accounts sales manager. "Rich has done an excellent job in growing sales in all segments, leading several sales and marketing efforts for BMD and contributing on a wide variety of sales and marketing initiatives in conjunction with Wood Products. As our distribution business continues to grow, Rich will continue to help keep our focus on how we grow," notes Mr. Corrick.  Mr. Viola has a bachelor of science in marketing from Northeastern University.

Mr. Brown has served the operations manager for Wood Products Manufacturing since 2014 after serving as the southeastern region manager in 2013. Since joining the company as a silvicultural manager in 1999, Mr. Brown has also served as general manager of Boise Cascade's operations in Brazil and as the southern region manager.  "Mike has been a driver behind our Boise Improvement Cycle which is our effort to drive out cost and improve efficiency in our wood product mills.  While doing that, he has helped assemble what I consider to be the strongest group of region managers the company has ever had," comments Mr. Corrick.  Mr. Brown received a bachelor of science in forestry from the Australian National University and a masters of business administration from Cranfield University in England.

Since joining the distribution side of the company in 1982, Ms. Nyblad has held a number of positions in Wood Products sales and became the commodity sales and marketing director in Wood Products in 2014.  She has held numerous commodity sales positions for Boise Cascade.  "MJ understands plywood and commodity sales as well as anybody in the business. She also has served as the chairman of the APA - the Engineered Wood Association's Board of Trustees, and we are fortunate to have her guiding us through the current, extremely challenging business environment for our plywood business," comments Mr. Corrick.  Ms. Nyblad received a bachelor of arts from Whitman College in psychology and a masters of business administration from Idaho State University.

Mr. Jorgenson joined Boise Cascade in 2015 as the company's Engineered Wood Products marketing manager.  Prior to joining Boise Cascade, he held various senior management positions with The Weyerhaeuser Company and has almost 30 years of experience in the design, manufacture and distribution of Engineered Wood Products.  "Nate understands the engineered wood products business like few others because he has essentially spent his career in it. We are also very fortunate to have someone who has experience from design to distribution to run the most rapidly growing part of our business and to help integrate our upcoming acquisition," comments Mr. Corrick.  Mr. Jorgenson received a bachelor of science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
