DALLAS, Nov. 03, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Voyager Sopris Learning™, provider of evidence-based preK–12 instructional solutions and professional services, today announced that approximately $2,500 worth of much-needed school supplies were donated to students in Dallas, Texas.

On October 16, 2015, employees of Voyager Sopris teamed up with the Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) to assemble 100 backpacks, filling each with 20 new school supply items. All backpacks were donated to students in the Homeless Education Programs (HEP) of Dallas Independent School District.

This is the second time Voyager Sopris has organized a backpack build with employees and KINF. On September 18, 2015, Voyager Sopris donated the same amount of backpacks and supplies to the Denver Public Schools Educational Outreach Program.

"When a kid has lost everything, giving them anything they can call their own—a pencil, a backpack, a blanket—will improve their outlook on life immeasurably," said Mark Pierce, program manager of the Homeless Education Program for Dallas Independent School District. "We are extremely thankful for the donation and support from Voyager Sopris Learning and the Kids In Need Foundation."

"Our relationship with the Kids In Need Foundation continues to grow year after year," said Jeffrey A. Elliott, president of Voyager Sopris Learning. "Doing these backpack builds is just another way we can help students succeed in the classroom and show our support for the community."
