Campaign Urges Californians to Take Action to Stretch California's Water Supplies during Drought

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Channel Outdoor (CCO) today announced that it is donating space on its billboards throughout Northern California to Save Our Water, California's official statewide conservation education program. These billboards will feature art from the program's public education campaign, with messages urging Californians to "Let It Go" and let their lawn fade to gold during the state's ongoing historic drought.

Over the past five years, California has experienced some of its driest conditions on record, with snowpack and precipitation at all-time lows. Given the severity of the drought, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. took historic action by issuing an executive order mandating a 25 percent statewide reduction in water use – the first of its kind.

"At this crucial time in California's history, Clear Channel Outdoor strongly supports Governor Brown's decisive action on the drought," said Susan Holshouser, Market President, Clear Channel Outdoor Sacramento. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the Save Our Water campaign, which is working to engage and educate Californians to conserve water wherever possible."

Especially as California faces these hot summer months, efforts to save water are even more important. Californians must act collectively to reach the state's water use reduction goal by complying with water regulations and reducing personal water use footprints through efforts like limiting outdoor water use.

"Water conservation at home and at work is the single most important action Californians can take everyday during this historic drought," said Mark Cowin, Director, California Department of Water Resources. "Clear Channel Outdoor's generous donation will help Save Our Water reach even more Californians with this vital message."

"We thank Clear Channel Outdoor for its partnership in helping Save Our Water reach millions of Californians with its message of conservation," said Jennifer Persike, Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs and Operations, Association of California Water Agencies. "Californians have responded to the call to save water, but it is important that we all keep saving through this hot summer and into fall."
