CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Ixia XXIA, a leading provider of application performance and security resilience solutions, and Vector Informatik are collaborating to address the challenging tasks of securing, validating and optimizing automotive Ethernet communications in the emerging connected car market.

The connected car is already a reality, with Ethernet networking quickly becoming a standard feature. As vehicles use more information and communications technology, automotive manufacturers and suppliers require expertise and solutions to ensure application performance and security resilience in the interoperation of key functions and features, including infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The market for ADAS is growing rapidly, according to ABI Research analysts. In a report dated January 26, 2015, the firm states that the market is expected to grow from $11.1 billion last year to $91.9 billion by 2020, and is projected to move past $200 billion by 2024. The expansion of technology being used in high-end luxury vehicles and more affordable cars is helping to drive the growth.

"We verify the Internet Engineering Task Force Request For Comments protocol conformance of our AUTOSAR Ethernet stack implementation MICROSAR.ETH using Ixia's IxANVL software product as an independent test tool. Automotive manufacturers and suppliers can be sure that their products based on MICROSAR.ETH are seamlessly working together with other compliant stacks," said Dirk Großmann, senior manager Embedded Software Development for Ethernet, FlexRay and Diagnostics, Vector Informatik.

Vector selected Ixia's AUTOSAR standards compliant solution to validate the conformance of its TCP/IP stack implementation. Ixia's IxANVL automotive conformance and interoperability validation solution uses Ixia's deep knowledge of Ethernet to help drive the evolution of the rapidly growing automotive Ethernet market.

"The introduction of automotive Ethernet and IP-based devices and systems brings a new set of challenges for automotive manufacturers. Ixia's test solutions help address these challenges by validating and securing in-car devices and applications," said Jim Smith, vice president of product marketing, Ixia. "With Vector Informatik selecting Ixia, automotive manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers can qualify and ensure the compatibility of configurations in each phase of the development life cycle to deliver the highest quality standards."

As Ethernet-based connected car systems become more prevalent, standards are necessary to ensure the performance and safety of the entire vehicle, and Ixia's validation solutions help ensure these standards are met by the automotive manufacturers.
