OMA Reports a 17.1% Increase in May 2015 Passenger Traffic

MONTERREY, Mexico, June 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA OMAB OMA, reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 17.1% in May 2015, as compared to May 2014. Domestic traffic increased 15.7%, and international traffic increased 27.1%.

Of total May traffic, 98.2% was commercial aviation and 1.8% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in 11 airports in May. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+23.0%; +115,775 passengers), Culiacán (+9.6%; +10,412) and Tampico (+15.7%; +7,967). Monterrey traffic increased principally on the Mexico City, Cancún, Bajío, Villahermosa, and Guadalajara routes. Culiacán increased traffic on its San José del Cabo, Tijuana, and Mexico City routes. Tampico increased traffic on its Mexico City, Villahermosa, and Cancún routes.

International traffic increased in nine airports in May. Traffic increased most significantly in Monterrey (+35.2%; +28,662 passengers), principally as a result of increased traffic on the Houston and New York routes.

The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in May increased 1.2% as compared to the same month of 2014. The number of domestic operations decreased 0.2% and international operations increased 11.2%.
