Funding Supports New Disaster Philanthropy Technology Platform.

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) April 29, 2015

Good360, a national nonprofit organization that connects companies who have goods with nonprofits who need them, received a $315,000 grant from The UPS Foundation this spring. The UPS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of UPS UPS, also committed an additional $75,000 in donated transportation to assist Good360 with its disaster response and recovery efforts.

The grant, in-kind assistance, and technical support will facilitate the development of DisasterRecovery360, a technology platform that will enable Good360 to distribute critically needed goods to the right place at the right time following man-made and natural disasters.

DisasterRecovery360 will bring together key stakeholders assisting in disaster through a transparent, online platform. It will ensure that the needs of communities impacted by disaster are met immediately and throughout the full recovery process. The online platform will:

  • Provide nonprofits working at the site of a disaster with access to a free DisasterRecovery360 mobile application, enabling them to immediately begin identifying their product needs,
  • Publish those needs to the DisasterRecovery360 platform so that companies can learn quickly how they can help disaster relief efforts,
  • Update companies and individuals as needs change over time,
  • Share stories about how donations are used and how they are helping, and
  • Enable Good360 to store, stage and deliver critically needed goods at the right place and the right time through its network of logistics, warehousing and distribution partners.

"DisasterRecovery360 is our latest technology innovation for philanthropy, enabling Good360 to scale its efforts and ensure donated goods are distributed efficiently and effectively around the world," said Good360 President and CEO Cindy Hallberlin. "With the launch of Good360's DisasterRecovery360 platform, we aim to bring together our partners to ensure critical needs are met both immediately following a disaster and throughout the entire recovery process."

"The UPS Foundation is honored to support Good360's efforts to improve how donated goods are distributed following disasters," said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation. "Humanitarian relief and resilience is a core focus of The UPS Foundation, and we look forward to working with Good360 to create a more effective supply chain process for donated goods when communities are impacted by disasters."

About Good360

Good360 (Good360.org) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects companies who have products with nonprofits who need them. Since 1983, Good360 has distributed more than $8 billion in donated goods around the world, helping its network of 40,000 prequalified nonprofits strengthen communities and improve the lives of millions of people in need. In 2014 alone, Good360 distributed four million diapers, 10,000 mattresses and 8,000 cartons of clothing, shoes and accessories to hundreds of thousands of people—and that's just a fraction of what the organization does each year. Today, Good360 is expanding its impact around the world through new technology that makes giving more efficient and effective.
