Harwood Feffer LLP Announces Investigation of Geron Corporation

NEW YORK, April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Harwood Feffer LLP (www.hfesq.com) is investigating potential claims against the board of directors (the "Board") of Geron Corporation ("Geron" or the "Company") GERN, concerning whether the Board members breached their fiduciary duties to shareholders.

On April 10, 2015, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California sustained in part a securities class action complaint filed against Geron and certain of its officers and directors in connection with alleged material misstatements concerning clinical trials of a new drug between June 16, 2013 and March 11, 2014.  During this period, Geron's officers and directors may have known that patients treated with the drug exhibited liver function abnormalities putting them at risk for chronic liver injury but nonetheless made statements to the public that the drug was safe and well-tolerated.  When the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) put a hold on the drug's clinical trials on March 11, 2014, due to these liver toxicity concerns, Geron's stock plummeted 62%.

Our investigation concerns whether the Company's officers and directors breached their fiduciary duties by making or causing to be made misleading statements regarding the clinical trials.  We are also investigating whether the Board breached its fiduciary duties to shareholders and exposed the Company to significant civil liability, including damages and litigation costs in connection with the securities class action referenced above.
