TORONTO, ON --(Marketwired - April 23, 2015) - In response to the Federal Government's 2015 Budget released Tuesday, April 21, 2015, Scotiabank announced that customers will soon be able to take advantage of the new, increased limit of the Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA). While normally such a change would not be effective until the law is passed, we expect the Federal Government to confirm later this week that Scotiabank customers will be able to contribute up to $10,000 to their TFSA immediately.

"Scotiabank encourages our customers to save for the future and our financial advisors work with customers every day in order to identify additional savings opportunities that help them to become financially better off," says Ahmad Dajani, Scotiabank's Vice President, Retail Deposits & Investments. "The increase in the Tax-Free Savings Account announced in the Federal Budget enables Canadians to increase their contribution to this important savings tool, and allow more of their savings to grow, tax free."

The Tax-Free Savings Account is a registered plan that allows investments and savings to grow tax-free.
