Tyler Technologies Announces Texas Winners of the 2015 Tyler Public Sector Excellence Awards for Odyssey Courts & Justice Solution

Tyler Technologies, Inc. TYL has announced the Texas recipients of its 2015 Tyler Public Sector Excellence Awards for the Odyssey^® courts and justice solution. Cameron County and Justice of the Peace courts in Williamson County and Travis County were awarded for implementing cost-saving measures, increased efficiencies and improved customer service.

Tyler's Excellence Awards for Odyssey recognize organizations that have demonstrated excellence in deploying Odyssey in novel and impactful ways that extend best practices. Award submissions were evaluated by a panel of Tyler leadership and entries were judged on business value, maturity, innovation and relevance to other public sector organizations. Additional criteria met by award winners include:

• Creating a unique process that utilizes a Tyler application
• Realizing significant savings after implementing a Tyler product
• Increasing staff productivity by implementing a Tyler product
• Empowering employees, citizens or vendors

Cameron County utilized Odyssey to achieve a more unified system across multiple court and justice departments, resulting in increased information sharing, reduced duplicate data entry, decreased customer wait times and elimination of manual paper processes. To achieve these goals, the county established a governance committee to increase efficiency and improve the functionality of all departments. The county also adopted a unified method of data entry and operational procedures which increased information sharing across agencies. Cameron County is the southernmost county in the U.S. with a population of 417,000.

Williamson County Justice of the Peace court, Precinct 3, implemented Odyssey to create paperless business processes that improved efficiencies and saved tax dollars. The court's paperless workflows reduced document storage requirements, saving 500 square feet of office space, and eliminating 420,000 pieces of paper per year. Court processes that previously took 25-30 minutes now take staff 10 minutes, saving the county approximately $650,000 in staff costs per year. Williamson County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S. and is located in the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan statistical area.

Travis County Justice of the Peace courts became one of Tyler's largest SaaS clients when it selected Odyssey to replace five legacy systems with a single, integrated system. With Odyssey, the county has saved approximately 30 hours per week in the collections department, reduced the number of financial transactions by 50 percent and improved customer service. Travis County is home to Austin, the capital of Texas, and has a population of 1.1 million, making it the fifth-most populous county in the state.

Odyssey's Tyler Excellence Award Texas winners were honored on March 31, 2015, at the Odyssey 2015 user conference in Dallas, where they were presented with the award and given the opportunity to share their best practices and lessons learned with their public sector peers.

Dallas County, Cameron County and Collin County were also recognized as finalists for their successes. Dallas County was recognized for optimizing business processes by fully utilizing document management functions; Cameron County's District Clerk's Office implemented e-filing and Odyssey Financial Manager to eliminate paper and increase service to constituents; and Collin County improved process automation to become paperless, saving $60,000 annually from eliminated file folders.
