Celanese to Present Paint and Coatings Solutions for Better Indoor Air Quality at European Coatings Show 2015

Celanese Corporation CE, a global technology and specialty materials company, will showcase several new products of its Mowilith® brand of dispersions at the European Coatings Show 2015 from April 21-23 under the theme of "Better air, everywhere." Celanese, a global leader in dispersions for use in interior, low emission decorative paints, invites formulators to see how Celanese VAE technology enables them to follow the latest trends in the paint and coatings industry and develop solutions that lead to better indoor air quality.

The Mowilith line is one of the broadest portfolios of waterborne dispersions including vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE), vinyl copolymer, pure acrylic and styrene acrylic. Mowilith dispersions make it easy for manufacturers to formulate products that satisfy the formulator and end customers' desire for safer, cleaner and more sustainable paints and coatings.

According to Bernhard Forschler, commercial director for emulsions in EMEA at Celanese, the developments in solutions for sustainable coatings were driven by the increasing demand for environmentally-friendly products by consumers and professionals. "Our VAE dispersions meet labeling requirements and reduce impact on indoor air quality so everyone can breathe a little easier," said Forschler.

New dispersions brought to the European Coatings Show include:

• Mowilith® LDM 7510 – A pure acrylic dispersion with optimized balance of anti-blocking and elasticity properties for high gloss paints and lacquers formulated without coalescent agents. The combination makes the product suitable for low-emission paint and coatings products for decorative applications in the professional and do-it-yourself (DIY) segment.
• Mowilith® LDM 2301 – An APEO-free vina-vinylester based copolymer especially designed for fire protection paints. The product provides an excellent cost-performance profile and can be used for water-based intumescent paint formulations.
• Mowilith® LDM 1828 – A vinyl acetate/ethylene vinyl ester copolymer for interior paints. The dispersion shows good wet scrub resistance and excellent compatibility with silicate binders so that the dispersion is suitable for deep matte silicate interior paints.
