LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Dec. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Astoria Bank today announced that it has opened a full service branch in Melville, N.Y. at 532 Broadhollow Road, on the heavily trafficked Route 110 commercial corridor. The new branch is part of Astoria's ongoing expansion efforts to better serve the banking needs of its business customers in prime commercial locations.

Melville, which is centrally located on Long Island and easily accessible for Astoria customers, is widely known as a hot spot for locally based businesses. "We are excited to be part of this major business hub," Redman said. "Our Melville branch gives companies in the area access to a team of business banking experts who provide a consultative approach featuring customized cash management solutions, as well as fast, local decision-making on lending. It is exactly the type of service our customers have come to expect from us."

The branch – Astoria's 87th – is managed by Craig Levy, who joins Astoria Bank with more than 20 years of banking experience. He brings with him valuable local market knowledge, having been on the Melville banking scene since 2008. In addition to possessing extensive management experience, Levy currently serves on the Melville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Applied Economics Advisory Committee of Farmingdale State College.

Levy will be working closely with the Long Island Business Banking Group managed by William Ayers, senior vice president and director of relationship management. Since 2011, Astoria has focused on expanding its business banking presence, growing from 11 to 48 team members throughout the greater New York metropolitan area. Additionally, 70 percent of Astoria Bank branches are managed by professionals with experience in commercial banking. The bank also increased its physical footprint this year, adding its first Manhattan branch adjacent to Penn Station, serving clients who live or work in Manhattan.

"Astoria continued to implement important changes throughout the year, meeting our customers' evolving needs for convenience and personalized attention. Our continued growth reinforces our commitment to strengthening businesses on Long Island and in the greater New York Metropolitan area," Redman said. "The opening of this new branch to close out the year is a fantastic way to carry our success into 2015."
