Nordstrom Rack To Open In Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

SEATTLE, Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. JWN today announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at 1600 Commons in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The 36,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open in fall 2016. 1600 Commons is being developed by Halvorsen Holdings.

The new two-level Rack will be part of a redevelopment of the property, which is located on Federal Highway between NE 15^th and NE 16^th Streets. The project will also be home to the first Trader Joe's in Fort Lauderdale, along with Office Depot and a variety of other retailers.

"We're grateful for the support we've received from our customers in South Florida ever since we arrived with our Nordstrom store at Town Center at Boca Raton in 2000," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. "We believe the new Rack will be an ideal location for customers living in and visiting Fort Lauderdale."

When it opens it will be the ninth Nordstrom Rack in South Florida. The company recently opened a new Rack in West Palm Beach and will open its eighth location in the spring of 2015 at the Shops at Midtown Miami.
