NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

LP Building Products LPX has been awarded the prestigious “Partners of Choice” Award for 2014 from David Weekley Homes, the nation's largest privately held home builder.

LP was among 13 outstanding suppliers that David Weekley Homes recognized using its industry-leading National Trading Partner Survey, an evaluation system first implemented in 2004.

LP rated an “A,A” gaining top marks in service and quality.

“It is an honor to receive this prestigious award from such a great company and partner,” LP Specialty Sales Director Craig Sichling said. “Providing consistent quality and service is at the heart of our company's promise to our customers. To be honored by one of the nation's largest builders for fulfilling that promise speaks volumes about the effort that LP employees at all levels put into what they do every day.”

This is the first time that LP has rated “A,A” in David Weekley Home's National Trading Partner Survey. LP received an “A” in service in 2012.

David Weekley Homes' survey uses a series of evaluations, one-on-one discussions, formalized feedback instruments, coaching sessions and action plans to analyze supplier performance across all industries.

Fewer than 10 percent of the company's suppliers rate an “A,A.”

“LP is in rarified air,” said Bill Justus, vice president of Supply Chain Services for David Weekley Homes.

The unique quarterly survey is a detailed review of supplier performance as assessed by about 600 David Weekley Homes team members from all levels within the company.

The National Trading Partner Survey measures access, communication, timeliness, reliability, follow-through, confidence levels and other areas important to the business relationship.

The company shares the information with its trading partners, giving them an opportunity to review and improve their channel alignment and performance, Justus said.

LP Market Development Manager John Doggett shares the survey's findings with LP's distributors who serve David Weekley Homes.

“We use this as a continuous improvement opportunity to better our relationships and communication,” Doggett said.

LP supplies products to 10 of David Weekley Homes' 18 markets. Those products include LP TechShield® Radiant Barrier sheathing, LP TopNotch® Sub-flooring, LP SmartSide® Trim & Siding, and LP SolidStart® Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL).
