Perhaps encouraged by the stellar quarter that venture capital just enjoyed on the IPO market, private-equity firms are seeking a big payout next week. In fact, one of them, Oaktree Capital, is double-dipping by both bringing one of its clients public and by going public itself.
PE-backed IPOs are usually a mixed bag. They tend to offer big, solid names but not hot growth stocks, and their leveraged buyouts leave their companies with sizable debt.
