No Chill: Netflix Adds 7 Million Subscribers In Stellar Q4

Netflix, Inc.NFLX shares are up big in the after-hours session, jumping more than 8 percent after releasing a stellar fourth quarter earnings report.

The company finished 2016 with 93.8 million users and generated $8.3 billion in global streaming revenue, good for 35 percent year-over-year growth. Here are some highlights:

  • Netflix reports Q4 EPS $0.15, beats by $0.01
  • Revenues $2.48B, beats by $10 million.
  • Netflix added 1.93 million domestic subscriptions, 5.12 million internationally.
  • Netflix sees Q1 2017 EPS at $0.37 vs $0.18 estimate, streaming revenue of $2.516 billion.

This quarter marks the 10-year anniversary of the launch of streaming for Netflix.

"The next decade will be even more amazing and tumultuous as internet TV supplants linear TV, and as we strive to remain a leader," said CEO Reed Hastings in a letter to shareholders.

Shares traded recently at $144.22 after closing the regular session at $133.25.
