Troll Alert: Bud Fox Wants To Know If Harambe's Death Impacted Ruby Tuesday's Revenue

Someone trolled Ruby Tuesday, Inc.'s RT management team during its post-earnings conference call.

To understand the prank, some background knowledge of the classic film "Wall Street" is required. The film focuses on the life of Bud Fox, a young and ambitious Wall Street banker that breaks multiple security laws, not to mention all of his moral and ethics, to score big with a major client, billionaire corporate raider Gordon Gekko.

Geneva Roth Holding Corp. was an offshore corporation set up by Gekko in the Cayman Islands which Fox was instructed to make use of.

Here is where the trolling comes in.

Ruby Tuesday reported its fiscal fourth quarter results in which both EPS and revenue fell short of Wall Street's expectations. As is customary, management hosts a conference call following the earnings release to discuss the quarter and accept questions from analysts.

One of the analysts on the call was identified by the operator as "Buddy Fox" from the firm "Geneva Roth Holding Corporation."

"I just have one question," the person asked. "Do you think your revenues are negatively impacted by Harambe's death and if yes, do you have any plans to mitigate it?"

Harambe was the name of a gorilla that was killed by zoo workers after a 3-year-old boy climbed into the enclosure earlier this year.

Ruby Tuesday's management team didn't answer the question and said there was a bad connection.

The operator on the line then confirmed connection was lost with the caller and then called on Bryan Hunt of Wells Fargo to pose his (serious and legitimate) question to management.
