A Peek Into The Markets: U.S. Stock Futures Rise; All Eyes On Jobs Report

Pre-open movers

U.S. stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. Data on nonfarm payrolls for July and international trade for June will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 30 points to 18,302.00, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures gained 4.25 points to 2,163.75. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index rose 10 points to 4,753.25.

Oil prices traded higher as Brent crude futures declined 0.81 percent to trade at $43.93 per barrel, while US WTI crude futures also fell 0.69 percent to trade at $41.62 a barrel. The Baker Hughes North American rig count for the latest week is schedule for release at 1:00 p.m. ET.

A Peek Into Global Markets

European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index surging 0.77 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index rising 0.17 percent and German DAX 30 index gaining 0.16 percent. The UK's FTSE index was trading higher by 0.02 percent, while French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.41 percent.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.01 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 1.44 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index declined 0.19 percent and India’s BSE Sensex rose 1.31 percent.

Broker Recommendation

Analysts at William Blair downgraded FireEye Inc FEYE from Outperform to Market Perform.

FireEye shares fell 14.09 percent to $14.39 in pre-market trading.
