Wednesday's After-Hours Movers Led By Oracle, FedEx, Jabil, Pier 1 And More

Shares of FedEx Corporation FDX, which had gained 2.85 percent on Wednesday trading, ahead of the announcement of the company’s second quarter –fiscal 2016- financial results, continued to surge in the after-hours session. The stock was up more than 4.7 percent since the bell rang, after the famed transportation and mailing company reported earnings of $2.58 per share on revenue of $12.453 billion, beating the Street’s consensus estimate of $2.51 per share and $12.401 billion.

Another gainer on Wednesday’s afternoon was Jabil Circuit, Inc. JBL, up more than 1.25 percent since the market closed. The smid cap electronic manufacturing services and solutions provider delivered first quarter –fiscal 2016- earnings of $0.85 per share on sales of $5.208 billion, above the Street’s consensus, which called for earnings of $0.80 per share on revenue of $5.189 billion, pretty much in line with the mid-point of management’s guidance.

Also surging on its earnings report was Oracle Corporation ORCL, up about 2.5 percent in after-hours trading. The tech giant was expected to deliver consensus earnings of $0.61 per share on revenue of $9.086 billion, but reported instead earnings of $0.63 per share on revenue of $9 billion. Notably, Cloud SAAS and PAAS revenues rose 34 percent in U.S. Dollars, and about 39 percent in constant currency. Total revenue, on the other hand, fell 6 percent in Dollars but remained flat in constant currency.

Other stocks moving on their earnings calls on Wednesday afternoon included:

• Pier 1 Imports Inc PIR, down almost 14 percent on a revenue miss.
• Herman Miller, Inc. MLHR, down about 0.8 percent on a revenue miss too.

It should be noted however that the last two companies beat the Street’s consensus expectations in the earnings front.
