reported better-than-expected earnings for the third quarter on Wednesday. The McLean, Virginia-based company reported quarterly net income of $34 million, or $0.72 per share, versus $37 million, or $0.77 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding items, the company's adjusted earnings came in at $0.73 per share. Its revenue rose to $1.13 billion from $993 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.65 per share on revenue of $1.14 billion.

Economics
Private-sector employers added 217,000 jobs in November, according to Automatic Data Processing Inc. Economists were expecting an addition of 190,000 nonfarm jobs. US productivity climbed at an annual pace of 2.2 percent in the third quarter, while unit-labor costs increased at a 1.8 percent annual rate. The Federal Open Market Committee will release its latest Beige Book report at 2:00 p.m. ET.
