Thursday's After-Hours Movers Include Post-Earnings Ulta Salon, Autodesk, Splunk & GameStop

Shares of GameStop Corp. GME surged 1.85 percent during Thursday trading, ahead of the announcement of the company’s second quarter financial results, scheduled for after the market closed. After the results were released, the stock, which was also rising in after-hours (more than 4 percent), fell about 0.39 percent, before returning to -very close to- the closing price of $46.18

The videogames retailer reported earnings of $0.31 per share on revenue of $1.762 billion, ahead of guidance, which called for earnings of $0.23 per share, and the Street’s consensus estimate of $0.24 per share and $1.727 billion.

Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. ULTA, which was also up -1.39 percent- during the day, continued to climb in after-hours trading, closing roughly 4.75 percent up.

The surge also followed the earnings release, in which the company reported EPS of $1.15 on sales of $877 million, comfortably beating the Street’s projection of $0.82 and $711.44 million, and even ahead of guidance of $1.10 and $861 million.

Autodesk, Inc. ADSK reported its quarterly financial results on Thursday afternoon as well. After the company beat estimates on the earnings front, but missed expectations on the revenue and guidance fronts, the stock lost more than 5 percent, and closed the day trading around $47.44.

Another mover in the tech sector is Splunk Inc SPLK, up 5 percent since the bell rang, after it had returned 4.49 percent during the regular trading session.

Second quarter earnings came in at $0.03 per share, on revenue of $148.33 million, beating the Street’s consensus, which called for EPS of $0.02 and revenue of $140.48 million.
