China Eastern 2014 Profit Surges

reported a rise in its profit for 2014. According to Chinese accounting standards, China Eastern's net profit for the year climbed to 3.42 billion Chinese yuan ($551 million), versus a year-ago profit of CNY2.36 billion. The company had booked CNY202 million in net foreign-exchange loss for 2014. Its revenue gained 2% to CNY89.75 billion from CNY88.11 billion. China Eastern shares climbed 7.41% to close at $28.84 on Friday.
