The fourth-quarter earnings season has pretty much wrapped up, so this week's highlights will include fiscal quarterly results from ostensible economic bellwether FedEx Corporation FDX, consumer goods giant Nike Inc NKE and leading software maker Oracle Corporation ORCL.

Also on this week's schedule are leading homebuilder Lennar Corporation LEN and precious metals company Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA) SLW. However, analysts are looking for year-on-year earnings growth from just three of these five companies.

Here is a quick look what analysts expect from these results, as well as some of this week's other most prominent earnings reports.

FedEx

The fiscal third-quarter forecast for this transportation and business services giant calls for its per-share earnings to have increased from $1.23 in the year-ago period to $1.87. Revenues for the period that ended in February are expected to have grown more than 4 percent to $11.79 billion in Wednesday morning's report.

That consensus EPS estimate has ticked up by a penny in the past 60 days, but analysts overestimated EPS by more than 3 percent in the previous period, one of two earnings misses in the past year. Looking ahead, sequential and year-over-year growth on the top and bottom lines is predicted for the current period.

Lennar

When it shares its results first thing Thursday, this Miami-based company is expected to say earnings per share for the most recent quarter came in at $0.45. That would be up from $0.35 in the year-ago quarter. Note that EPS have topped estimates in the past four quarters by more than 11 percent.

The consensus forecast for the homebuilder also calls for revenue to be up more than 10 percent from a year ago to $1.50 billion for the fiscal first quarter. Looking ahead of the current quarter, so far revenue and EPS are both expected to be higher, sequentially and relative to the year-ago quarter.

Nike

In its report late Thursday, this footwear and apparel maker is expected to say that its EPS rose more than 10 percent to $0.85 for the three months that ended in February. That consensus estimate is a penny lower than it was 60 days ago. However, earnings exceeded analysts' expectations in the past four quarters.

Revenues for the fiscal third quarter are predicted to be almost 10 percent higher than a year ago to $7.65 billion. For the current quarter, a less than 6 percent gain in revenue is anticipated thus far. However, the full-year forecast calls for revenue to be about 11 percent higher.

Oracle

Analysts expect this Redwood City, California-based company to post $0.68 per share earnings for its fiscal third quarter, which would be the same as in the year-ago period. Back in the second quarter, Oracle beat EPS estimates by a penny, ending a streak of at least three quarterly earnings misses.

Revenue for the three months that ended in February is predicted to be less than 2 percent higher than a year ago to $9.47 billion. Sequentially, revenue will be marginally higher in the current quarter, if the consensus forecast is accurate. Look for Oracle to share its results after Tuesday's closing bell.

Silver Wheaton

The forecast for this silver streaming company calls for a profit of $0.15 per share and for revenue to total $151.58 million for its fourth quarter. That would be down from EPS of $0.27 and revenue of $167.42 million a year ago. EPS were only $0.01 in the third quarter, far short of the consensus forecast.

Full-year EPS are estimated at $0.75, which would be down more than 30 percent year-over-year, on revenue of $637.57 million, which would be almost 10 percent lower. Look for Silver Wheaton to release its results Wednesday after the regular trading session ends.

And Others

Analysts are also looking for earnings growth this week from the following:

  • Adobe Systems
  • Darden Restaurants
  • General Mills
  • Jabil Circuit
  • Tiffany

Guess?, KB Home and NQ Mobile will say that EPS shrank, relative to the year-ago period, if the consensus estimates are correct. However, the forecasts for Plug Power, Quiksilver and Yingli Green Energy call for net losses.
