Hindustan Unilever Q3 Profit Surges 18%

Hindustan Unilever Ltd., the Indian arm of Unilever PLC, reported an 18% gain in its profit in the three months ended December. Hindustan Unilever's quarterly net profit surged to 12.52 billion rupees ($202 million), versus a year-ago profit of 10.62 billion rupees. Its sales climbed 8% to 75.79 billion rupees. Sales in its soaps and detergents segment climbed 7% to Rs 3,600 crore, while sales in personal care segment jumped 7% to Rs 2,454 crore. Sales in the beverages segment rose 9% to Rs 919.9 crore.
