UNF reported a 7.7% rise in its fiscal third-quarter earnings.
UniFirst's quarterly profit surged to $30.9 million, or $1.53 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $28.7 million, or $1.43 per share.
Its revenue rose 4.9% to $352.2 million from $335.8 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.42 per share on revenue of $349.2 million.
UniFirst's revenue from core laundry operations division surged 5.2% to $313.3 million, while revenue from its specialty-garments segment increased 4.9% to $27.6 million.
Unifirst expects FY14 earnings of $5.70 to $5.85 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $5.71 per share.
Ronald D. Croatti, UniFirst President and Chief Executive Officer said, “Overall we were pleased with our results for the quarter. We continue to get solid performances from our sales and service organizations in two areas that are integral to our success; selling new business and retaining existing customer relationships.”
UniFirst shares gained 0.14% to $107.00 in pre-market trading.
