UPDATE: ConAgra Posts Upbeat Q3 Profit

ConAgra Foods

reported a better-than-expected third-quarter profit. ConAgra's quarterly net income surged to $234.3 million, or $0.56 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $120 million, or $0.29 per share. Excluding items, it earned $0.62 per share. However, analysts were projecting a profit of $0.60 per share on revenue of $4.4 billion. ConAgra's total revenue climbed 14.5% to $4.39 billion. ConAgra shares gained 2.33% to $30.28 in pre-market trading.
