Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL) posted a profit in the fourth quarter.

Trina swung to a quarterly profit of $9.8 million, or $0.13 an ADS, versus a year-ago loss of $87.2 million, or $1.23 an ADS. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.02 an ADS and revenue of $543 million.

Its revenue climbed 74% to $525.6 million. For the first quarter, Trina Solar projects to ship 670 megawatts to 700 megawatts of solar modules.

Its operating expenses declined 15% to $65 million.

Trina Solar shares gained 2.78% to $15.16 in pre-market trading.
