Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are:

Wall Street expects Smithfield Foods (NYSE: SFD) to report its Q1 earnings at $0.47 per share on revenue of $3.19 billion. Smithfield shares gained 2.18% to $34.70 in after-hours trading.

Quiksilver (NYSE: ZQK) reported upbeat fiscal third-quarter earnings. Quiksilver shares jumped 15.77% to $6.02 in the after-hours trading session.

Analysts are expecting UTi Worldwide (NASDAQ: UTIW) to have earned $0.14 per share on revenue of $1.15 billion in the second quarter. UTi Worldwide shares fell 0.35% to close at $17.05 yesterday.

VeriFone Systems (NYSE: PAY) reported better-than-expected fiscal third-quarter results. VeriFone shares surged 5.26% to $21.81 in the after-hours trading session.

Analysts expect Layne Christensen Co (NASDAQ: LAYN) to post a Q2 loss at $0.39 per share on revenue of $260.61 million. Layne Christensen shares declined 0.76% to $19.46 in after-hours trading.
