UPDATE: JDS Uniphase Posts Upbeat FQ2 Profit

posted a profit in the fiscal second quarter. JDS Uniphase posted a quarterly profit of $4.1 million, or $0.02 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $10.2 million, or $0.04 per share. Excluding special items, it earned $0.18 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $0.14 per share. Its revenue rose 4.9% to $429.4 million. JDS Uniphase in October expected revenue of $410 million to $430 million. Its gross margin rose to 44% from 42.6% JDS Uniphase shares jumped 14.84% to $14.24 in after-hours trading.
