UPDATE: Kansas City Southern Posts Upbeat Q4 Profit

reported a drop in its fourth-quarter profit. Kansas City Southern's quarterly net income declined to $92.5 million, or $0.83 per share, versus $96.0 million, or $0.87 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.92 per share. Its revenue climbed 7% to $568.4 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.82 per share on revenue of $563.7 million Kansas City Southern shares gained 2.97% to $90.25 in pre-market trading.
