Campbell Soup Co (NYSE: CPB) reported a drop in its first-quarter net earnings.

Campbell Soup's quarterly net profit declined to $245 million, or $0.78 per share, versus $265 million, or $0.82 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.88 per share.

Campbell Soup's sales climbed to $2.34 billion from $2.16 billion.

Campbell Soup shares closed at $36.95 yesterday.
