UMC Q3 Net Profit Up 24.1%

United Microelectronics

reported a 24.1% rise in its third-quarter net profit. UMC's quarterly net profit surged to 2.42 billion New Taiwan dollars (US$83 million). Its revenue climbed 13.3% to NT$28.53 billion. UMC projects its Q4 revenue to fall 6% to 8% from the prior quarter. UMC shares closed at $1.92 on Friday.
