UPDATE: UnitedHealth Posts Rise In Q3 Profit, Lifts 2012 Forecast

UnitedHealth Group

reported a rise in its third-quarter earnings. It also lifted its 2012 profit view to a range of $5.20 to $5.25 per share. UnitedHealth's quarterly net income rose to $1.56 billion, or $1.50 per share, versus $1.27 billion, or $1.17 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue increased 8% to $27.3 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.34 per share on revenue of $27.58 billion. UnitedHealth shares closed at $57.49 yesterday.
