reported a 33% rise in its third-quarter profit. Gannett's quarterly profit surged to $133.1 million, or $0.56 per share, versus $99.79 million, or $0.41 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its adjusted profit came in at $0.56 per share. Its revenue climbed 3.4% to $1.31 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.53 per share on revenue of $1.29 billion. Gannett shares closed at $17.90 on Friday.
