UMC Q2 Net Profit Down 6.3%

United Microelectronics

reported a 6.3% drop in its second-quarter net profit. UMC's quarterly net profit fell to $2.99 billion Taiwan dollars (US$99 million), from NT$3.19 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of NT$2.65 billion. UMC's revenue declined 1.9% to NT$27.62 billion from NT$28.15 billion. UMC shares closed at $2.05 yesterday.
