Ahold Posts Decline In Q1 Profit
Royal Ahold NV reported a 3.1% decline in its first-quarter profit.
Ahold's quarterly net income fell to 282 million euros ($352 million), versus 291 million euros, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a profit of 304 million euros. Its sales gained 5% to 9.72 billion euros.
In the US, Ahold's revenue climbed 2.8% to $7.8 billion. However, sales rose 1.2% to 3.3 billion euros in the Netherlands.
